Climbing Spots
We looked for an online database of climbing spots and did not find one that “fit the bill.” Why not our site? So, what follows is a (mostly) objective rating of the spots we climbed. We decided on six things that make or break a spot: Staff, cost and availability of rental equipment, number of routes and how well they use their space, how clearly routes are marked, what kind of/how much are items in the merchandise case, and the extras (if any) each spot offers. After the rankings, we will break down each category and explain the rank we gave it (poor, fair, good, excellent) and if that spot is more for a traveling climber (good for up to a week of climbing), or a local looking for a good base of operations.
Keep in mind as you read these reviews that we are relatively new to climbing, and as such, do not get into the more advanced aspects of a spot. We do feel, however, that we can recognize features a more advanced climber would want to tackle and mention them. If you have climbed any of these spots and think we either omitted or misrepresented any features, we encourage you comment and rep your spot.
